Government Shutdown? – Where to Drown Your Sorrows Tuesday (and Indefinitely)

With less than 24 hours to go, the federal government is looking more and more likely that it will shut down on Tuesday October 1st . All non-essential employees (including, shockingly, me) would only have a few hours (at most) to shut down things on Tuesday morning and will be furloughed during the shutdown. Unlike previous shutdowns, there’s no guarantee that furloughed workers would get back pay.

If you’re in this position, you might want to commiserate with your colleagues on Tuesday.  Here’s a list of spots that either are open in the morning for boozing (8a is earliest time DC bars can start serving; H/T to Urbandaddy) or start happy hour early. This post will be updated if any bars take advantage of the hundreds of thousands of workers who will be off. [UPDATED 9/30: H/T to Twitter and great lists of shutdown specific specials from WCP/Young & Hungry, Post/Going Out Guide, and DCist]
