UPDATE – Boston-Themed Bar Dirty Water Closing Permanently and Moving Down H Street Above Ben’s Chili Bowl

July 26th Update – deal didn’t happen and Dirty Water is closing permanently

Dirty Waterthe Boston sports -themed bar which has been at 816 H St NE since September 2017, is moving just over 400 feet to the east, to occupy the 2nd floor and rooftop bar above Ben’s Chili Bowl at 1001 H St. NE. The current location is slated to close around July 22nd, with the new spot opening up a month later in late August time for the Women’s World Cup final.

The bar goes into the building built and owned by Ben’s since 2015, into space was occupied by Ben’s Next Door and then Crab Boss (which closed in the spring).

Ben’s will debut a breakfast menu in conjunction and Dirty Water will exclusively serve only the Ben’s menu (via QR code ordering).

The bar plans to feature live bands, with emphasis on country music, and have an expanded sports betting area. The teams/colleges alumni that came to current location (Tulane, Wake Forest, UGa) will continue to host.

The bar has been a bit of a throwback to the M St bars of the 00s and before – female bartenders celebrating victories by standing on bars and that kind of scene that feels less common nowadays (not surprising as the owner ran Rhino Bar previously), surely will try to keep that vibe going in a nicer location.
