DC Bread and Brew, the cafe/bar tucked away just steps from Dupont Circle, closed its doors today, Wednesday, February 18th. The bar announced the news out of its blue on its Twitter account, exclaiming “True last call!” and announcing that every drink (including top shelf booze and draft beer) would be $1 and free pizza would be available until supplies last. The spot, with a decent beer list and a somewhat-under-the-radar patio to grab happy hour al fresco in Dupont, opened in January 2009.

The closing is not a surprise to sharp-eyed watchers of the real estate scene; the building that houses DC Bread and Brew was acquired in fall 2014 to be razed for a new office building, as reported by the Washington Business Journal.
