After a glorious run through October culminating in one of the biggest upsets in World Series history, the Washington Nationals are World Champions. To celebrate, DC and the Nationals (splitting $2 million cost evenly) are hosting a massive parade on Saturday, November 2nd starting at 2p. The parade is on Constitution Ave NW between 15th and 3rd Street, culminating with a team rally on the 300 block of Pennsylvania along the National Gallery of Art East Building with the U.S. Capitol on the backdrop. Metro has ramped up service to rush hour level service from 10:30a-6p and basically all of DC’s streets from E St NW to Independence SW (over a half square mile) will be a pedestrian zone all day tomorrow (see at end of post). If at all possible, do not drive or even take a Lyft. More details here.
Here are specials as well as details on the closest spots open so you can know where to pre-game or go after the game (with the help from Washingtonian’s Emily Martin & Anna Spiegel & Eater/Tierney Plumb. Walking distance from parade route in parentheses; bottomless options (plus a couple spots with great specials) in red.
