Former Owner of Dirty Water Plans Four New Bars Across DC

Chris DeFelice, founder and former owner of H Street Boston-sports themed bar Dirty Water (ran it from roughly 2017-2023), who also helped run the long-running Rhino Bar in Georgetown (closed in 2015), tells Barred in DC that he is planning a come back to open 4 new DC bars before the end of next year:

  • Dirty Rhino
    • 1301 H St NE basement (on 13th),
    • Opens September 2026 (hoping to open by first day of NFL Season, Sept 9th)
    • Was briefly Flight Lounge
    • country music focused bar/venue
    • Will dabble in Boston sports but not full on sports bar
  • The Boogiedown
    • 2321 18th St NW (former Death Punch)
    • Hoping to open September 2026
    • NY/NJ sports bar with bands playing late night continuing with the same music Death Punch had going
    • Downstairs will have a NJ Devils look, upstairs Yankees look but like the former 51st State will host all Yankees/Mets/Jets/Giants/Knicks/Nets/Devils/Rangers/Islanders/Big East/etc.
  • Dirty Down
    • 1508 14th St NW basement (underneath Chipotle)
    • No theme yet, may try to do an open poll
    • Aiming to open in 2027
  • Fenway Garden
    • 1359 H St NE rooftop in new Nesso Plaza
    • “Ultimate Boston Sports Bar” & lots of drafts, a Beergarden on a rooftop
    • Aiming to open in 2027
