The neighborhood of Penn Quarter, typically mentioned  along with the misleadingly named Chinatown (more like Chinablock), is perhaps DC’s most urban area. Thousands of folks flock to the area on a regular basis to check out Wizards and Capitals games, concerts, WWE matches, and other events held at the Verizon Center; tourists find it convenient when sightseeing on the Mall.  This arena, since it opened in late 1997, has helped transform this area into one with scores of bars and restaurants. PQ has the most beer-centric bars in the city, along with perhaps the most sports bars. I’m defining the hood to include everything between 4th & 10th Streets between Massachusetts & Pennsylvania Avenues (roughly between C & K).
